Everything but the kitchen sink soup

Everything but the kitchen sink soup is a concoction made when grocery shopping is in order. You look in your fridge and try to find "stuff" that would taste good and will have most of the food groups involved.
In the soup is...
chicken, peas, 3 containers of frozen leftovers (named this because I can't remember what they were..were recent but my mind is going..hehe), egg noodles and barley. Oh and chicken stock.
I am a vegetarian so I couldn't taste this but my children ate it so it must have been good. I sent some over to my parents and they really enjoyed it. I got this "everything but the kitchen sink" idea from my grandpa. My grandparents had 8 children to feed and sometimes they had to get creative. A result of this is jam and sour cream on toast. To most this sounds awful but really..I am not lying..it is good. Look in your fridge. What can you throw together?

Dorci and Lasta from Indonesia

I finally got a nice shot of Dorci smiling. Here they are making bracelets with Amelie and Ricky. The cloth that they are wearing is what people wear in Indonesia to celebrate. I even got them to write the name of them down and I forgot that. ANOTHER part I will add in later..

THANK YOU Teen Missions for giving us this wonderful opportunity to teach our children about Indonesia!!

Making the Wordless Bracelets

Teen Missions hands out Wordless bracelets all over the world to teach people about God. Each bead represents something.
black= sin in our hearts
red=Jesus's blood
white=snow
yellow=gold in heaven
green=growing with Jesus
The book is made of the same colors and is handed out as well. This way children can "read" to others about Jesus. There is a little song that goes along with the bracelets and books.
(I will add this in tonight. I left my paper in the van..sigh)

A Picture Together

From left to right - Ricky, Lasta, Shirley, Amelie and Dorci

In the center is Shirley Charron. She is the treasurer for Teen Missions.
Look at my girls. They are admiring their newly made bracelets.

Learning about Flags

Lasta shows the girls the Indonesian flag. They learn the differences between the Indonesian flag and the Canadian flag. Amelie says she likes the Canadian flag better because it has a leaf.
I really like how Ricky and Lasta are holding the Indonesian flag together.

Our Dentist Visit

Amelie is going to dictate to me her dentist adventure...

It was like it was sunny. It was like we could pick more toys we could pick. And then it was like we could go on an adventure. They saw my teeth. They cleaned them.

And we couldn't go to the dentist without Ricky! She wanted to try on those awesome sunglasses. We are getting her ready for her first visit in April.

We even brought Cohen in on the action! He loved the TV on the ceiling.

With the "S" family it is ALWAYS an adventure!!!

Happy New Years

How original is that title?
What did we do for New Years? We did what any old couple would do! We kissed and then went to bed. That's it folks. No interesting story to tell.
Yesterday I finally tackled our bedroom. That is THE room that everything gets placed for lack of space. We actually hear an echo while in there. We need to decorate. I am trying to think of a nice color. Our living space is Cranberry and our washroom is like an Olive Green. I would like a rich yet uplifting color. Hmmm. I will post a before and after pic.
This is a short post. I will post later when something productive gets accomplished.
